Cathedral Appoints Part Time Engagement Officer

Parish

Thanks to match-funding from the Diocesan Mission Enabling Fund, a new 'Engaging Audiences' project is underway.

We are delighted to welcome Helen Sharp to the Cathedral Team. For this past year she has been working as the Engagement Manager for Cathedral’s Restoring Pugin Project, funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
Since Phase one of this project has now come to an end and as we await to hear the outcome of our Phase Two grant application, the Cathedral successfully applied to the Diocesan Mission Enabling Fund for a match-funded project around engaging audiences and continuing to build on the good work Helen has begun in partnership with parishioners and local organisations.
This now means that Helen is part of the Cathedral Staff and will be leading on a programme of events, engagement and volunteer recruitment as part of our parish community.
It’s a great opportunity for the parish to build on the experience and events of Phase One of the Restoring Pugin Project and to begin to further embed this good work into every day parish life. It is also a concrete response to the Bishop’s call for all parishes to become ever more outward facing and missionary.
Helen is delighted to be given the opportunity to continue to work with the Cathedral. She has spent the last year working with schools, community groups and new audiences and everyone has been so positive about the Cathedral and the work that is being developed on site.
The main areas Helen will be supporting over this period are the development of events, school/group visits, volunteer recruitment/engagement and the ongoing development of partnerships across the City. She will also be supporting the Friends of the Cathedral.
Helen will be working for the Cathedral on average a day a week, so if you have ideas or would like to get involved in this work, she would be delighted to hear from you via email:
